As a professional make-up artist, women tell me every day they just don't have much time to spend on
their faces anymore. true, we sometimes play "beat the clock" as we throw on eyeliner, lips, etc. and run out the door... and you know what? It looks as if it's been thrown on! It's great if you are able to draw on your brows and make them look realistic or enhance you lips in just a few minutes, but I've yet to see powder or pencils that actually look like tiny hairs and most women cannot recreate a natural-looking lip
edge in seconds.
Here is a suggestion... get up 15 minutes earlier, and make sure your cosmetic drawer stays organized...I like to use tiny baskets for my lip pencils, shadows and lipsticks, so when you look in, it is pleasant and not a mess. think of your morning make-up application as a soothing ritual...some of my clients put on music and light a scented candle...slow down, it's your face! Is anyone timing us when we wax the kitchen floor? Now, of course this advice does not apply when the significant other is standing with arms folded and a tapping foot...but, make some extra time and play...take the proper time to properly transform yourself.
My daughter Jennifer always has her make-up items clean and sterile-looking, all lined up neatly in her make-up pouch in her purse (wonder where she got that from) so she can reprocess on a moment's notice. I once observed the whole lunchtime crowd at neiman marcus beverly hills collectively touch-up and re-apply cosmetics to their faces all at once, as if on que, unbelievable! It really took a lot of restraint not to jump up and hand out my business cards for permanent make-up!
Anyway, most of us have some sort of ritual to our make-up application,
why not slow it down a beat...your make-up brush is your magic wand!
And oh, yeah, if you use your rear-view mirror, be sure to watch for cops!
